Hardware Advent Vega pc tablet
February 5th 2011 17:56
This is my second post and I am writing it from the thing I am reviewing, the Advent Vega.
Firstly I am going to start with the obvious, it is a touch screen tablet.( for any people who don't have a tv, pc or more likely have been buried underground for 5 years) Most people think it all started with the ipad however you need to look back even more and you find the DynaBook a strange piece of hardware but still the first.
Second the specs of the tablet.

All of these specs are quite impressive when you find out the Advent is a budget tablet (cheap lower market), the Advent will set you back around £250.
However impressive the specs are there are a few drawbacks.
1. There is no android market due to some complications it was refused it by google.
2.The system it runs on was ment for phones not tablets so can be glitchy at times.
3. It may have a camera but it is not good at taking well.... photos.
4. Any android apps you may be able to acquire may have compatibly issues.
Most of these problems however can be fixed by a custom ROM.( best can be acquired from modaco) It will then have faster loading times, have the market and most of all will have a update making using the tablet so much easier.
If you have not been scared of by the cons well here are the pros
1. incredible screen offering ipad style touch while giving amazing HD graphics.
2. Once loaded with ROM easy to move around and great for most games.
3. One of the best internet browsing experiences I have come across very quick.
4. HDMI so any video on there can be plugged into your TV.
5. Micro SD means storage is easy.
6. Amazing sound much better then Ipad.
7. Better processor then the Ipad meaning it can do most things quicker then the ipad.
For all these reasons I think the Advent is just incredible for its price of £250 at most times it can beat the Ipad and at less then half the price. 8/10
